【摘要】:Thistestmethodfacilitatesthecomparisonofdifferenttypesandgradesofchrysotileasbestosbythepropertymostpertinenttoitsuseinasbestos-cement,namely,thestrengthorreinforcingvalueitimpartstotheproduct.Whilesimilarcomparativeresultscouldbeobtainedonanygivenproductionequipment,thismethodallowsthetestingofsmallsamples,avoidscostlyinterruptionsinproductionfornumeroustrialruns,andallowstestvaluestobeobtainedbyasinglestandardmethodsothatresultscanbecomparedamongdifferentlocations.StrengthUnit(SU)valueofafiberblendusedinasbestos-cementproductsmaybeestimatedbytakingtheproportionateSUvalueofeachcomponentofthefiberblend.Ifthefiberblendisformulatedwiththeaimtooptimizeanotherfiberpropertysuchasfilterability,theSUcalculationwillassurethattheblendwillnotfallbelowanacceptablestrengthlevel.Thistestmethodisrestrictedtogradesofasbestosusedinasbestos-cementproducts.Verylong(Group3)fibersaredifficulttoevaluatebythismethodbecausethetestspecimensproducedmaynotbesufficientlyhomogeneous.Similarly,veryshort(Group7)gradesmaynotberetainedsatisfactorilyinthemoldduringthepressingoftestspecimensormaynotprovidesufficientstrengthtomeetthetestrequirements.Note18212;ThetermGroup3or7referstothestandarddesignationforchrysotileasbestosgradesestablishedbytheQuebecAsbestosMiningAssociation,See2.2.Becauseofcertaindifferencesbetweenthismethodandthemanyvariationsinplantproductionprocedurecommonlyusedinasbestos-cementmanufacture,itisemphasizedthatthestrengthvaluesobtainedbythisstandardizedprocedurewillnotnecessarilygiveexactlythesamestrengthvaluesasobtainedatanyonespecificmanufacturingplant.1.1Thistestmethodgivesaprocedurefortheevaluationofthestrength-givingpropertiesofasbestosfibersusedtoreinforceasbestos-cementproducts.1.2Thepurposeofthistestmethodistodeterminethenumberofstrengthunitsthatmaybeassignedtothesampletested.1.3Asbestosfiberpossessestheabilitytoimpartstrengthtoanasbestos-cementproduct.Everyfibergrademayberegardedaspossessingacertainquantityofstrength-givingunits.Thequantityoffiberrequiredinanasbestos-cementcompositionvariesinverselywiththenumberofstrengthunitsitpossesses.Forexample,ifanamount,designatedbyX,ofafiberpossessing100strengthunitsproducesaproductofagivenstrength,2Xwouldberequiredtoproduceaproductofequivalentstrengthfromfiberpossessingonly50strengthunits.1.4Thefollowingdefinitionisthebasisforthestrengthunittest:Anasbestosfiberthatgivesthestandardstrengthatthestandarddensitywhenusedas10%ofthefurnishisdefinedashaving100strengthunits.Therefore,byknowingthepercentfiberrequiredinthemixtogivestandardstrengthatthestandarddensity,itispossibletocalculatethestrengthunitsofasampleofasbestos.1.5Thisprocedureisintendedprimarilyforchrysotileasbestos;ithasnotbeenverifiedwhetherornotitisapplicabletoothertypes.1.6ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.7Warningx2014;Breathingofasbestosdustishazardous.Asbestosa......
